RV Membership Organizations and Associations

RV owners have several organizations and associations to choose from when it comes to discounts. Memberships can include special offers or discounts on RV parks, insurance, attractions, and many other products and services. What memberships are right for you? Well, that really depends on several factors, such as how you travel, how often you camp, where you like to stay and what other inclusions you need. We’ve rounded up some of the most popular options for RVers of all types to consider joining. Be sure to check each of the associations to see which one offers the best benefits based on your needs. It’s not unusual for RVers to have membership in several of these groups or organizations.

AAA

AAA offers coverage for motorhomes as well as towables and fifth wheels when being towed by covered vehicles. Classic membership does not cover RVs, but upgrading to Gold is $95 per year and includes towing, lockout, extrication, and many other benefits for motorists and all types of RVs. Membership also includes amenities such as identity theft protection, discounts on insurance and travel as well as access to TripTik trip planning, and much more.

Boondockers Welcome

Boondockers Welcome offers self-contained RVs a unique experience to stay at more than 2,500 member properties. Annual membership is only $50 and includes unlimited stays. Some locations offer shore power, but RVers should be prepared to be self-sufficient.

FMCA

Family Motor Coach Association, aka FCMA, offers exclusive discounts, roadside assistance, medical evacuation, and RV lifestyle resource information. FCMA originally started for drivable units only; as of 2017, membership is open to all types of RV owners. Membership is $85 per year, with discounts available for a multi-year commitment.

Good Sam

Good Sam Club offers discounts on camping, propane, and fuel at select locations, discounts on purchases at select outdoor retailers as well as features such as a trip planner and guide books. Also, select Camping World locations offer free dumping for members. A one-year membership is $29, but multi-year members have additional benefits and reduced per year costs.

Harvest Host

Harvest Host offers self-contained RVers the unique opportunity to stay for free at more than 15,000 locations such as wineries, breweries, distilleries, country clubs, attractions, and farms. Membership starts at only $79 per year, which quickly pays for itself with a couple of stays. Save 15% off your membership.

KOA

KOA reward program is $33 per year and offers 10% off camping at all member RV parks. Additionally, the accumulation of points from stays can be converted to cash discounts on future stays or free stays during the member’s appreciation week. The program also includes special offers and discounts from partner companies.

Passport America

Passport America membership offers 50% off more than 1,600 member campgrounds at a cost starting at $44 per year. In addition, discounted multi-year members are available and an option for a lifetime membership for $349, which includes some value add amenities.

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to RV membership organizations. Research to see which offers the best options for your needs, and keep in mind that multiple memberships are not unusual. When in doubt, join and see how you use it for the year to come before spending the money for the multi-year membership.
